Berlin is awash with burger joints that range from the utterly bewildering to the truly trailblazing. We've sifted through the gristle to bring you our absolute favorite spots—ensuring that if you decide to sink your teeth into a beef patty squeezed between two buns, it'll be worth every bite and every inch of stomach space.
The list you're about to devour is the result of over a decade spent watching the burger scene evolve. For a deeper dive into our journey, you can read The Road to the Best Burger in Berlin to understand how we approached the task of unearthing the city’s finest burgers. To create this list, we visited over 50 burger joints, from the simplest Imbissbuden and street food trucks to luxury hotels. Most didn’t make the cut, but the ones that did—those are truly special.

So, what makes a burger one of the "Best" for us? Well, it’s all a matter of taste, and taste is, of course, fickle. Are you chasing the fleeting memory of your first childhood McDonald's burger? Or perhaps the cheesy magic of that late-night dive bar treasure you stumbled upon in New York? For me, it’s impossible to predict what I’m after on any given day—but when it’s right, you just know. It hits you like a freight train of flavor or a 50-kilo sack of prime ground beef. That’s the burger.
The following places aren’t ranked, but each has delivered a flash of burger brilliance, a bite of something elusive and downright ethereal amidst Berlin's crowded, beef-slinging landscape. So here they are—my Best Burgers in Berlin.

Burgermeister
If you're after a Berlin burger, Burgermeister is the undisputed heavyweight in the local burger scene, and they’ve earned their crown. What began as a tiny burger joint in a converted public toilet under a bridge quickly became a citywide obsession, even before they started franchising (13 locations on and counting). Since the franchising the probability of having a not-perfect Burgermeister meal has definitely increased, but if you visit the locations at Schlesisches and Kottbusser Tor, your chances of a great burger are very high.

BEST BURGER : Fleischermeister with extra cheese and and extra grilled onions
LONG LIVE THE FLEISCHERMEISTER!!!

Goldies Smashburger
Goldies Burger, the sister restaurant project to the original fry and chicken shop on Oranienstrasse, offers the finest smashburgers in Berlin, crafted by Michelin-starred chefs. One thing is for sure: The success of Goldies sparked a German burger boom and the quality of this list would not be the same without them (that's also why they are in the YouTube video as the undeniable, German burger experts). With its flagship located at the bustling corner of Gräfestrasse and Kottbusserdamm (also Kudamm & Fhain), Goldies serves no-fuss, minimalistic cheeseburgers made with premium ingredients, elevating the fast-food classic to a gourmet experience. What sets Goldies apart from the smash burger competition: The very strong sauces, perfect condiments and relentless dedication to quality and consistency.

BEST BURGER: Cheeseburger with extra cheese, green pepperonis and grilled onions or the 7th street burger
The classic double cheeseburger is the pro move and be ready to wait for up to 45 mins in line (unless you get there early!)
-
Sold Out
Sold Out Burger were the first burger project to copy Goldies, shamelessly mimicking its smashburger brilliance, courtesy of a former employee. Despite that fact, they are actually pushing a solid burger that comes close to the original. While they’ve swapped Martin’s potato rolls for a buttery bun concocted with a Turkish baker, it’s a move that proves Berlin's burger wars still have room for worthy contenders.
BURGER: 3,9/5
BEST BURGER: Bacon Jam Burger
They can be a little inconsistent with quality, but don't give up too quickly, when they deliver it's good!
-
Burgerstrasse
Burgerstrasse is yet another Goldies doppelgänger, proudly peddling their smashburger in Wedding and Moabit, but using the larger Martin’s potato bun for that extra bite. Consistently good and unapologetically familiar, it’s a place that’s hard to ignore, even if you've seen the script before.

BEST BURGER: Single Cheeseburger
If it's a smashburger you're craving and this is your area, this is a great option.
-
Smashy n' Crunchy
This spot currently holds the crown as our favorite Goldies smashburger copy, offering the best bang for your buck in Berlin. If burgers aren’t your only vice, their chicken sandwich and tenders are equally worth the bite, all served up with Martin’s potato buns and a satisfying crunch of American mustard. At 4,50 EUR, they also offer the best value for money burger on the list!

BEST BURGER: Double Cheeseburger
Superior burger for delivery, takeout or for right on the spot - try the Fried Chicken Sandwich for variation!

ALL IN.
Opened in 2023 on Schönhauser Allee, All IN serves up a no-frills take on New York’s 7th Street burger with slightly thicker, semi-smashed meat patties, sauce and grilled onions. All In also gets extra points for bringing a new burger to the city. With its red interior, cheeseburgers, crinkle fries, and milkshakes are all you’ll find here—perfect for those craving something simple, greasy, and satisfying.
BURGER: 4,3/5
BEST BURGER: The "Single"
The single patty cheeseburger with plain crinkle fries is the way to go here.

Golt'z Burger
Located in Lichtenrade, close to the Brandenburg border, this burger is a bit of a trek but absolutely worth the journey. Served in a custom Bekarei bun with shredded sallad, onions, cheese a smoky, rich mayo sauce—no ketchup, no mustard—it’s a refined smashburger with perfectly browned, high-quality patties that are slightly thicker than usual. A true highlight of the city, even if it far off the beaten path, and along with the Königsburger from the Ritz this was THE most interesting find of the quest.
NOTE: We were served this burger on a Martin's Roll (as seen on the photos) but the regular bun here is a custom Bekarei bun. The usage of a Martin's Roll does take this burger to another level.

BEST BURGER: The Double Patty Golt'z Burger
You might be tempted to switch the toppings around, but leave it as is, they nailed the combo!
-
Five Guys
Yes, Five Guys is an American chain, and we’d love to keep this list strictly Berlin-born, but there’s no denying they serve one of the city’s best burgers. Life-changing? Hardly. But it’s solid, made fresh to order, and fully customizable. Bonus points for the fries—some of the best around, especially with Cajun spice—and their milkshakes are an indulgent win.

BEST BURGER : The "Little Hamburger" or the "Grilled Cheese" with a burger patty
A milkshake and a side of pries make for the perfect snack.
-
Gully Burger
The Gully Burger from Berlin with its Shami-spiced patty, spicy onions and green chutney mayo is one of the single most interesting burgers you can eat in Germany. It marries the flavours of shami kebab with classical burgers and you definitely can't miss it.
BURGER: 3,9/5
BEST BURGER: The Gully Burger
When has getting both a chicken burger AND a vada pav ever steered you wrong? You already know what to do.

Veronika
Manhattan meets Berlin at this chic Mitte spot inside the ultra-trendy Fotografiska Museum on Oranienstraße, housed in the former Tacheles squat. With a dining room, swanky bar, and rooftop, there’s a vibe for every mood—just bring your suit jacket or best streetwear; it’s still Berlin, after all. Expect polished classics, and whatever you do, don’t skip the secret burger upstairs at the bar. It's 22 EUR, but it has beaujolais onion on a dry aged beef patty, squeezed into one of the fluffiest and tastiest burger buns in the city.
BURGER: 3,9/5
BEST BURGER: The "Veronika Burger"
After grabbing an excellent burger and cocktail at the bar, see if they have any room at their rooftop bar for an unforgettable experience.

Pound & Pence
Find Pound & Pence nested inside the beautiful Arminius Markthalle. This joint is serving a 200g dry-aged beef burger on a soft turkish bun with pickles, onion-sage marmelade, and Blomeyer aged Cheddar. Why do they shine? They have probably the best meat quality in Berlin in combination with the best crust - result: a fantastic meat experience! The rest of the burger is ok, the bun kind of works, that aged cheddar is fine, the salad we could do without and the onion marmelade kind of works and adds sweetness to the burger. Overall the amazing meat quality really makes this burger.
BURGER: 3,9/5
BEST BURGER: The "Dry Aged Burger"
If you're a fan of non-smashed burgers, this is one of the top ones to eat.

The Ritz Carlton
The Königsburger from the Curtain Club Bar at the Ritz Carlton in Berlin is a fantastic new take on a German classic. It's essentially two Königsberger Klopse, which are 100% veal meatballs, and smash them on a griddle to make a double patty burger: They add a mayo-based sauce the Klopse would be typically served with and then it's topped with fried capers, micro lettuce, pickles, american cheese and pickled, yellow beets. This is quite the experience, it definetely tastes like a burger, whatever it's roots are, and a fine one at that. This is not a grab and go situation but a fancy meal burger with a price tag to match.
BURGER: 4,4/5
BEST BURGER: The "Königsburger"
A great place to bring visitors looking for an elevated twist on a German classic.
