Billy Wagner and his team at Nobelhart & Schmutzig, one of Berlin's treasured Michelin-starred restaurants and stalward on the World's 50 Best List, have made the difficult decision to close down their online shop as well as discontinue their consumer packaged goods (CPG) brand, Hausgemachtes & Lebens=mittel.
Through a release published on their online shop's website, Wagner outlines the key points that led to the decision to pivot their brand, namely prioritizing quality by keeping all production within the restaurant (as opposed to outsourcing to co-packers), steep labor costs associated with producing a CPG brand in-house, as well as lower than expected sales in the German market.
