First of all, let's get one thing straight: There has never been a better time to eat Thai food in Berlin. Long known for its underground Thai scene - focused around the Thai Park where families once cooked up fiery, fragrant dishes from family recipes in a quiet corner of West Berlin - this city’s Thai food culture has evolved, matured, and frankly, leveled up. What began as a grassroots community gathering has become a full-blown culinary force, and while the iconic Thai Park still exists (in a new, regulated form and different location), you won’t find it on this list. Why? Because Berlin’s Thai restaurants have seriously raised the bar.

Over the last few years, the city has welcomed a new generation of Thai eateries: from sleek, modern kitchens reinterpreting classics with finesse, to humble old-school spots digging deeper into regional recipes rarely seen outside of Thailand. You’ll now find Thai food here that spans the full spectrum, from Isaan heat bombs to Bangkok-style grilled meats, noodle soups from the North, and seafood dishes straight from the South. And yes, it will real-deal Thai spicy if you ask for it, so tread carefully.

Berlin has in our opinion cemented its status as the undisputed Thai food capital of Germany. No other German city even comes close, except for maybe Frankfurt. In fact, Berlin’s Thai scene is starting to hold its own against European heavyweights like London, especially in the realm of contemporary Thai dining.

This curated list includes the top Thai restaurants in Berlin today - a blend of established favorites and exciting newcomers, with a slight lean toward West Berlin, the historical heart of the Thai community, but with a few key Eastern players in the mix too. Whether you’re craving a late-night khao soi, a full-on laab-laced feast, or just the best pad kra pao in town, these are the places doing Thai food justice in Berlin right now.

Bring an appetite. Maybe a handkerchief. And whatever you do, don’t underestimate the chili...

Shrimp paste fried rice, whole grilled chickens and fish, pork skewers, and fried pork belly can be combined with warming bowls of soup and refreshing salads Sausages are fermented, dipping sauces are insane, and this place is by far one of the best Thai experiences in the city.

Monay Sakarin brings a no-holds barred fierceness to the kitchen and knows how to create flavor combinations that wow and entice. When we ask Berlin's chefs about their favorite Thai restaurant, this is by far the most named restaurant.

Its tiny size made it notoriously hard to snag a table. Thankfully, an expanded space is on the horizon for summer 2025. Go now, and go hungry—it’s one of the best Thai meals you’ll find in the city

Make sure to banter with Nutt's partner
