The much-anticipated World's 50 Best Restaurants list for 2024 was released in Las Vegas tonight, and Berlin's culinary scene once again managed to score twice on the list. Tim Raue's flagship restaurant in Kreuzberg advanced from 40th to 30th place place, while Nobelhart & Schmutzig by Billy Wagner and Micha Schäfer advanced from 45th to 43rd place.
Nobelhart & Schmutzig also won the "Sustainabillity Restaurant Award 2024" for their trailblazing and holistic approach to locally souring produce and energy, minimizing food waste and nourishing a culture of growth and safety as an employer.
Add to the fact that two more Berlin restaurants made it to the extended list (CODA in Neukölln at Nr. 62 and Ernst in Wedding at Nr. 75), we can conclude that despite the current fine dining struggle in Berlin, at least internationally Berlin contiues to be regarded one of the hottest fine dining destinations in Europe.
