Before 2022, Ukrainian restaurants in Berlin were rare gems—quietly serving up borscht and dumplings to those in the know. But with the Russian invasion of Ukraine, everything changed. Berlin became a refuge for Ukrainians looking to escape the perils of war, and with it came a new wave of Ukrainian chefs and restaurateurs, many rebuilding what they had to leave behind.
Now, the city’s Ukrainian food scene is richer than ever. You’ll find steaming bowls of beet-red borscht, pillowy varenyky stuffed with potato or cherry, and golden, butter-filled chicken Kyiv. After our Eat Like a Chef interview with Olga Jach, an Ukrainian blogger based in Berlin, we summarized her tips and our own favorites in this list of the best spots for classic Ukrainian fare in Berlin. So from West to East Berlin, behold our list of the truly best Ukrainian restaurants in Berlin.

Odessa Mama
This place is an institution in West-Berlin with an ancient interior and lots of memoribilia. The restaurant is dedicated to the multi-cultural culinary scene of the harbor city of Odessa and the menu reflects just that. Loads of Ukrainian classics and (perhaps) slightly less expected, but not less delicious, items like a baba ganoush style eggplant and shashlik. The Pelmeni are outstanding, the stews are comforting, and the Chicken Kyiv is buttery, like truly, come hungry. Of course, there’s Napoleon cake for dessert and Ukrainian Vodka throughout. There’s some great cooking happening here and lovely, homely vibes.
We highly recommend getting a pitcher of Mors, that's a low-sugar drink made from berries such as cranberries that accompanies the rich dishes very well.

Die mit den Kirschen
Die Mitte in Kirschen is Berlin’s most modern Ukrainian restaurant, offering a full range of traditional dishes—from steaming borscht to pillowy vareniki, hearty pelmeni, and golden Kyiv chicken. Located in the heart of Charlottenburg, the space is sleek and contemporary, but the food stays true to its roots—no twists, no frills, just the classics done right. On weekends, expect a full house, live music, and a lively Ukrainian crowd.

Fayna
Fayna is a spacious Ukrainian restaurant in Berlin’s Tiergarten, known for its generous portions and hearty, traditional fare. After relocating from Grunewald in 2025, it’s become a go-to for classic Ukrainian comfort food—think vareniki, pelmeni, and more—with a few Georgian dishes scattered across the menu. The servings are famously huge (yes, even the pickles), so come hungry or bring friends—and don’t forget to ask for a doggy bag.
