    Eierhäuschen in Spreepark is calling all experienced restaurateurs looking to create a 3-year pop-up restaurant starting in 2022. This is an incredible opportunity to start witha completely blank canvas in one of Berlin’s most iconic restaurant locations as how this restaurant operates depends entirely on the restaurateur that comes on board. This interim use of the restaurant serves as a prelude to the reopening of the entire Spreepark grounds. The concept should convince through a high level of quality, and a desire to make the place attractive all year round for families, foodies and tourists alike.

    WE

    This historically significant location, in conjunction with the planned art residencies, run by Grün Berlin, and the opening of the legendary Spreepark, offers an ideal platform to establish a lasting venue for food and culture in Berlin. The Eierhäuschen was opened in the 19th century as an excursion restaurant on the edge of the Plänterwald, located directly on the banks of the Spree. During the GDR era until the early 1970s, it was one of the most popular outings in Berlin.

    By 2021, its complete renovation will be finished, including the restaurant, beer garden and artists’ residences with adjacent exhibition rooms. The gastronomic space of the Eierhäuschen will be used as a pop-up restaurant for three years from spring 2022 until the reopening of the entire Spreepark area in 2024. The dance hall, connected to the restaurant, is available for events, and a total of 540 seats are planned, distributed across the restaurant, coffee garden, dance hall and beer garden.

Since their humble beginnings, Fräulein Kimchi has grown into a successful catering company and Food Stand/Truck specializing in both traditional Korean cuisine and modern Korean comfort food.

    YOU

    • experience working as a sous chef or higher
    • good at managing and leading a team
    • excellent organisational skills for taking inventory, monitoring food waste, etc
    • developing and keeping menus on budget
    • implement and develop protocols to maintain kitchen operations
    • knowledge of different cuisines and a desire to keep learning new techniques and flavours (we cook a wide range from Mediterranean to East/Southeast Asian and American cuisine)
    • experience with high volume catering cooking
    • self starter who takes initiative and responsibility for new tasks
    • ability to maintain all food safety hygiene requirements
    • punctual and reliable
    • eye for detail and a high personal standard
    • minimum 2 years professional experience in a high volume kitchen
    • A drivers license would be a plus, but not a must.

     

    We are a mostly English speaking team, but having a strong grasp of German would be necessary for fulfilling tasks such as product ordering, dealing with repairs, etc. If German is not a strong point but you fulfill all the other requirements and would be willing to learn, we would take that into consideration.

    This is a semi full time position to start with 30-32 hours a week, but could quickly become a full time position. Work weeks are from Monday-Friday with an 8:30/ 9 am start and is great for a work/life balance in gastro. Weekends are generally off unless we have extra events scheduled. The kitchen is based in Weissensee on the border to Prenzlauerberg.
