BERLIN KEEPS ON COOKING
Presenting the third and final edition of the Berlin Food Stories “Lockdown Food” series with all the best takeaway and delivery food in Berlin Charlottenburg, Wilmersdorf, Schöneberg and “rest of the West”. With the official lockdown in place, where restaurants no longer are allowed to serve guests at their establishment with the exceptions of takeaway & delivery (effective since Sunday March 22nd), the first dust of the COVID-19 crisis is settling and we’re seeing an increasing offer of very interesting takeaway and delivery options emerge from Berlin’s restaurant scene.
The initial shock of the situation seems to slowly be fading away and we’re seeing quite a few restaurants, which initially closed, opening up again, ready to tackle this crisis with an adjusted offering. It warms my heart to see the level of innovation coming out of Berlin’s restaurant kitchens right now and also what kind of spirit these guys are mounting during these apocalyptic times. Make no mistake, delivery and takeout will only cover a fraction of the regular business of any restaurant, but right now every euro counts and it’s up to every one of us to see our favourite restaurants emerge on the other side of this crisis. Cooking also helps the restaurants stay sane in these times where utter despair is looming behind every corner.
Lots of fantastic food options on this list, from classic West Berlin Chinese and Thai take out to some very cool offerings that will brighten any lockdown day: Thai curries from Michelin-starred Kin Dee, gourmet sushi from The Catch or Neo-Persian comfort from Rocket & Basil – or why not delivery of one of the best Neapolitan pizzas in Berlin from Mangiare in Moabit? Lots to choose from on this list, make sure to give them all a try during the next weeks. Also check my Instagram feed for even more real-time offers from restaurants and shops all over Berlin.
Keep on checking back here as I will keep updating this list as new offerings emerge.
You can also support your local restaurants by buying vouchers on the Helfen.Berlin website and providing them with much needed cash flow.
