Best of Berlin

BERLIN’S TOP 50 EATERIES 2019

The world might have the World’s 50 Best Restaurants, but we have BERLIN’S TOP 50 EATERIES – welcome to the 4th edition of the very best places to eat in Berlin right now! People always ask me for my favourite restaurant in Berlin, but I can never name just one – so here are 50 instead.

The 2019 list features a staggering 18 new entries, with plenty of new eating inspiration for everyone, from Michelin star extravaganza to street food trucks and holes-in-the-wall kebap joints, all according to my principles that a meal’s greatness always should be held to the same standards, regardless of its price: It all comes down to quality, execution and consistency.

Berlin’s Top Eatery list is a list for serious eaters, for food thrillseekers who always travel the extra mile for a great meal. It’s a list that dives into the heart of contemporary dining culture in Berlin, and although it can be used by visitors and locals alike, it was specifically conceived for people living in Berlin as the ultimate restaurant bucket list (first time visitors are recommend to use my Berlin To-Eat list first).

A list like Berlin’s Top 50 Eateries is by nature is bound to cause controversy, there are for example several, big names missing on it. Every place on the list, but also not on the list, has been chosen very deliberately though and public fame does not buy you anything here. The whole selection process is highly subjective and a true reflection of my (borderline obsessive) food thinking (yes, there are more good restaurants in Berlin).

Every eatery that serves food within Berlin’s borders is eligible to score a spot on this list, as long as they’ve been open for at least 6 months. Only proper meals feature (i.e. no ice cream shops, chocolate makers or bars), and each year I make sure to revisit top eateries in order to reassess against newer openings.

Makes sure to look out for the red Berlin’s Top 50 Eateries 2019 sticker in restaurant windows and doors all across town and treat it like a beacon of good food hope by celebrating these food heroes of Berlin and paying them a visit. With no further ado, behold the Berlin Food Stories Top 50 Restaurants 2019 in full glory (in NO particular order or ranking):
