Dear Reader,

I’m finally back in town after deep diving into Thai cuisine and losing a spice challenge with a Thai chef (R.I.P stomach lining). It feels fantastic to be back eating in our glorious capital and I can’t wait to try all our new restaurant openings. To celebrate my homecoming, I had three döners and a Standard pizza, that was right before I announced my new The BFS Berlin Food Tour, where I’ll be taking guests to eat like a local with some of the BEST Berlin dishes at my favourite restaurants. Also, I’m working on bringing you Terroir Berlin – my very own food symposium in May which will bring some of the world’s best chefs to Berlin in May. I have a feeling this will be one tasty spring…

OPENINGS

Little Joy
The purveyors of one of Berlin’s most in demand brunch pop-ups have found a weekday home for their brunch, cakes and coffee at Sweethearts Berlin – the new cafe at Agora.

Bricole
Now open on Senefelderstraße, Berlin’s first ‘hors d’oeuvre’ bar serves Berlin-adapted, French recipes in tapas-style portions.

J.Kinski
There’s some new beef on the Gabriel-Max-Straße block in the shape of J.Kinski’s homemade and delicious sandwiches (hello pastrami), salads and more. You’ll probably recognise them from their street-food pop-ups.

Kin Dee & Golden Phoenix
I mentioned these imminent openings last month but here’s a reminder; Dalad Kambhu’s Kin Dee collab with the Grill Royal boys, and Duc Ngo’s Golden Phoenix restaurant at the Provocateur Hotel have both opened their doors. Go feast!

GOSSIP

La Lucha
After a series of successful pop ups, Berlin’s next modern-Mexican will open its doors on Paul-Linke Ufer to us food hungry public on April 5th.

Industry Standard
Ramses Manneck’s Kreuzkölln domination continues… Not only is he opening a natural wine shop, (rumour has it there’s a new restaurant on the cards somewhere in the area as well), he’s also got ex-Les Solistes sous-chef, Thomas Leitner, working the Industry Standard stove as well.

Terroir Berlin
I’m currently organising a food event like no other – where some of the world’s top chefs (including Mark Best, Amanda Cohen, Matt Orlando & Jeremy Charles) will collaborate with local restaurant heroes (including Nobelhart & Schmutzig, Ernst, Horvath & Rutz) on four days of talks, forums, dinners and of course, food.
