Fear not my hungry friends. Things may look crazy out there, but with every meal you have the chance to make the world a more enjoyable place for yourself. Obama was in town the other week, eating dinner at the Adlon (should have checked the blog for another option Mr. P #justsaying), deep-fried bao sandwiches are finally a thing in Berlin, and there are a whole host of openings to celebrate this month. See the world is starting to look slightly better, isn’t it?
Don’t forget, you can signup here to receive the Berlin Food Digest when it hits inboxes first every month. Those signed up receive a monthly Insiders Tip to where they should be eating out AND I include extra competitions for them. Signup and join the gang.
They hit headlines in the UK when they produced the world’s most alcoholic beer which contained a whopping 55% ABV (that’s one way to deal with Brexit guys), and now this boozy brewery has found its Berlin home on Mitte’s Ackerstraße. Someone had better warn the neighbours…
Sweet dreams are made of deep-fried bao ice cream sandwiches at this new eatery on Pappelallee which serves absolutely knock-out desserts and a very promising Asian-inspired menu.
The breakfast bagel with omelette, avocado, tomato and cheese is pretty much perfect. But it remains to be seen whether Berlin will ever be OK with assembled sandwiches that give you so little change from a tenner.
The new kid on Torstraße serves vegan and vegetarian Asian noodles and burgers. On my first try: innovative but slightly strange.
The team at this new contemporary backyard joint on Anklamer Straße bring with them experience from Katz Orange and Ross, with cocktails curated by a Ritz Carlton bartender – the whole concept looks pretty promising.
Noma der Film
It’ll be the hottest ticket in town when it hits cinemas in Germany on 9th February 2017. Check out the trailer and stay tuned for some free ticket giveaways right here in the new year….
Rumour has it that the coffee champions are opening a new speciality coffee, and breakfast place somewhere in Mitte which will also be a cocktail bar in the evening.
Sad but true, iconic natural wine bar Maxim on Gormanstraße has poured its last glass. Also gone for good is NU Port on Rosenthaler Straße, though given the latter’s generic take on Asian food, I’m not that surprised.
4th – Naschmarkt im Advent
10th – Das Brunch
17th – The Green Market
